I Want Your Sex Review: A Hilarious, Unapologetically Gen Z Comedy Powered by Cooper Hoffman and Olivia Wilde

Gregg Araki’s I Want Your Sex (2026) is a genuinely funny, unapologetically Gen Z comedy carried by great performances from Cooper Hoffman and Olivia Wilde. Araki directs, throwing Hoffman and Wilde into a fully unsubtle sub/dom romantic comedy between a struggling art assistant and the much older, much more successful artist he falls for.
The script is hilarious. I LOL’d and chuckled so many times. Very Gen Z: the colors, the characters, the perspective, down to the end credits. Nice generational exposition. Obviously, don’t watch this with your parents, kids.
Cooper Hoffman leads it, and it’s nice to see his range. He’s the son of Philip Seymour Hoffman, and he was recently in The Long Walk (2025). This is the most unattractive Chase Sui Wonders has been, but it fits her character (and she’s still charming), and it makes sense eventually. She’s really well-cast, and I think you’ll feel the most sympathy for her character. Great acting from Mason Gooding too. I didn’t catch who he was because he played a pretty convincing gay guy. He was previously in Heart Eyes (2025), 72 Hours (2026), and Scream (2022). Apparently, he’s the son of Cuba Gooding Jr. Daveed Diggs is also in the film, but he’s just a side character. A bit of a waste, but sure. And let’s put Charli XCX in more movies. Same with Bad Bunny, not related but just a fan.
Funny and obvious commentary on the modern art world. If you have a friend, especially a guy, who doesn’t know what grooming is, let them watch this. Apparently, in an older version of the script, the gender roles were reversed and more traditional. But it was a good decision to switch it. It’s less problematic, which makes the plot go down easier.
Great series of Olivia Wilde projects after Don’t Worry Darling (2022): The Studio (2025), The Invite (2026), I Want Your Sex.
My wife says this would be great as a double feature with The Secretary (2002), starring Maggie Gyllenhaal, so we’re watching that next.
★★★★☆ for me, ★★★★☆ for her.
