Over Your Dead Body (2026) No Spoiler Review: Samara Weaving and Jason Segel Make This Fun, Gory Comedy Worth Watching

Over Your Dead Body (2026) poster

Over Your Dead Body is a fun, gory, and funny movie that gets better as it goes, and the cast is what carries it.

Jorma Taccone directs this remake of the 2021 Norwegian film The Trip. Jason Segel and Samara Weaving play a married couple who each plan to kill the other at their lakeside cabin.

The second half is better than the first half. Things pick up and it gets quite entertaining, with a really strong third act. It’s a little more than just a goofy War of the Roses. The full plot reveals itself piece by piece, so by the second half you’re having a lot more fun. The juxtaposition of the emerging relationship and the collapsing one was good, plot-wise.

Samara Weaving can be pretty funny, and she’s a great combination with Jason Segel. She has star power. She was also good at playing an actress who can’t act. She should have more visibility, and she will in about two years with X-Men. I’m left wanting to see more of her.

Jason Segel is his typical self. It’s another solid outing for him.

It would have scored lower, but the cast makes up for it.

★★★☆☆ for the both of us.
